Where everything began...

Tracey Simmonds-Bland, the founder of Wight Apothecary, grew up on the Isle of Wight with a “build, repair, make do and mend” mentality. Her family’s drive for self-sufficiency was an inspiration from a young age. She helped her father grow vegetables in his kitchen garden and collect kindling foraged from local copses. They collected plums for the famous Simmonds plum wine and picked elderflower heads to make cordial.

In her late teens, Tracey left the Island to study photography in London. She followed on to work as a photographer for a variety of clients. Here she was able to develop her design skills and love of great imagery. Returning to the Island for a sabbatical years later, she fell back in love with the rural life, met her husband, and started a family.

The birth of Wight Apothecary

Wight Apothecary was established in 2015. With a new baby to care for, Tracey’s lifelong passion evolved for sustainability and natural well-being. She became inspired to share her awareness about what we are breathing in, putting on our skin, and using in our homes. Wight Apothecary was born out of this desire to create beautiful products that are as clean and pure as possible whilst remaining affordable.
